Ethiopian female middle distance runner, Gudaf Tsegay, on Monday in Lievin, France, posted 3:53.09 to set a new world indoor 1500m record.

Tsegay, winning at the Meeting Hauts-de-Calais France Pas-de-Calais, saw her take two seconds off the world record.

The event is part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting.

World Athletics (WA) said the record is subject to the usual ratification procedure.

“I’m very happy to set a world indoor record,” said Tsegay. “I have been training really hard and I set myself a target to break the world indoor record.” (PANA/NAN)
