By Zubairu Idris

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Tuesday in Kano urged unemployed youths to embrace its agriculture as part of measures towards wealth creation and poverty reduction.

The Kano State NDE Coordinator, Mr Idris Sani-Yakasai, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of a training for youths on sustainable agriculture.

The training had as its theme: “Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS)”.

Sani-Yakasai said the scheme was introduced to encourage youths to embrace agriculture as a business enterprise.

He said the directorate had put in place core programmes to tackle unemployment, among which, was the Rural Employment Promotion (REP).

“NDE is up and doing in creating employment opportunities for unemployed Nigerians with a view to reducing poverty and creating wealth amongst them.

“Those efforts would contribute to the country’s Growth Domestic Product,” he said. (NAN)
