Deputy Speaker of Cross River House of Assembly, Mr Joseph Bassey, has won the primary election for Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressive Congress.
Returning Officer of the election, Mr Henry Ojong, who declared Bassey winner, said that he got 110 votes to defeat his opponents.
According to him, Bassey defeated Mr Edet Effiom who got 30 votes and Mr Saviour Nyong who scored 15 votes.
“Having conducted this primary election peacefully, I want to declare that Mr Joseph Bassey who got the highest vote cast of 110 is returned elected,” he said.
Speaking, Bassey thanked the delegates for electing him to fly the party’s ticket ahead of the 2023 polls.
He gave assurance that with his legislative experience in the state assembly, he will attract the needed development to members of his constituency if elected. (NAN)
