Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has congratulated his Bayelsa counterpart, Sen. Douye Diri, on the occasion of his 63rd birthday.
Okowa’s message is contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba.
He said that with Diri’s experience in life, which he had brought to bear in the governance of Bayelsa, his accomplishments so far had been outstanding and had signposted his determination to transform his state.
Okowa noted that since Diri came into the saddle, Yenagoa, the state capital, and other parts of the state had witnessed remarkable improvement in infrastructure, including the Ernest Ikoli Media Complex.
He commended the governor for his determination to make a difference in the state, especially with his commitment toward achieving universal health coverage for the people of the state.
“I must commend you, my dear brother governor, for your already acknowledged sterling attainments in the development of your state within the short time you have held sway,” he said.
According to Okowa, under Diri’s ‘astute watch’, Bayelsa airport has become operational, thus giving his people the opportunity to have aviation services at their doorstep.
“Your Excellency, it is worthy of note that you are delivering universal health coverage and improving health facilities for the people of Bayelsa, and I must commend you for that.
“I must also acknowledge your unwavering commitment to the cause of the Niger Delta region, especially as we contend with prevailing challenges in the zone and the country.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta, I congratulate a gentleman of honour and integrity, a consummate politician and emerging nationalist, Sen. Douye Diri, on his 63rd birth anniversary.
“I am extremely proud of your great achievements in your state and I urge you to continue using your God-given exalted position to render meritorious service to your people.
“On this auspicious occasion of your 63rd birth anniversary, I join your family, friends and well-wishers to thank Almighty God for your life, which has been marked by divine favour and miraculous attainments,” Okowa said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
