The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has called on Nigerian youths to channel their energy and resources towards nation building.
Dare made the call in a statement by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director, Press and Public Relations in the ministry on Friday in Abuja.
Dare stated this in commemoration of the 2022 International Youth Day with the theme “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages’’.
He said that youths are the most active component in the demography of any nation.
The minister urged the youth to use the vantage position positively, to be self-reliant and employable.
He reiterated President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s commitment to the continuous provision of an enabling environment for the development of the youth.
Dare urged the youth to key into these opportunities so as to compete favourably on the global stage.
“Let us also take advantage of the opportunities provided for us by government to get training and empowerment.
“This will prepare us to compete favourably on the global stage and lead us to creating the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.
Dare said that the day was celebrated annually on Aug. 12, to bring the youth matters to the attention of the international community.
He said the day celebrates the enormous potential of youths as partners in today’s global society. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
